Planning to take your first class at Ken Pilates? Read this article for helpful information for your first visit!

Welcome to Ken Pilates!

We are so excited to have you join us for your first Pilates class. We know that you may be feeling a little bit nervous, but don't worry! We are here to help you every step of the way.

What to Expect

A Pilates class typically starts with a warm-up, followed by a series of exercises that focus on strengthening and toning the core muscles. The exercises are designed to be challenging but not too strenuous, and you can modify them to fit your own fitness level. At the end of the class, there is a cool-down and stretch.

What to Wear

You will want to wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely in. Some people prefer to wear form-fitting clothing so that the instructor can easily correct their posture and alignment. You will also need to wear grip socks to prevent slipping on the mat. Grip socks are available for purchase at the studio.

How to Prepare

There is no need to do anything special to prepare for your first Pilates class. However, if you are new to exercise, you may want to start by walking or doing some light cardio for a few minutes before class. This will help to warm up your body and prepare it for the exercises.

What to Bring

You will need to bring a water bottle and grip socks. If you do not have grip socks, you can purchase them at the studio. We also have water available for purchase at the studio.

Injuries and Pregnancy

If you have any injuries or are pregnant, it is important to let the instructor know before class starts. This will allow the instructor to modify the exercises for you and make sure that you are safe.

If you are pregnant, it is important to get clearance from your doctor before starting any new exercise program. Pilates can be a great way to stay active during pregnancy, but it is important to listen to your body and modify the exercises as needed.

Clients should be cleared by the doctor to exercise.

If you have any health concerns, it is important to get clearance from your doctor before starting any new exercise program. This is especially important if you have any chronic conditions, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes.

Your doctor can help you to determine if Pilates is right for you and can provide you with specific instructions on how to modify the exercises to fit your individual needs.
